Scope
ALLMEN was contracted to undertake the engineering, procurement and construction of the composite structural-steel-concrete superstructure, including new grandstand, new pavilion building and strengthening and extension to the existing QEII building.

This specifically involved the design development, fabrication, overseas procurement and logistics management in the delivery of over 1,600 tonnes of structural steel from China to construction handover stage.

The contract package also included all metal decking elements, shear studs, all cranage, jacking of new and existing buildings to suspend levels from roof trusses.

The project involved the demolition of over 40,000m2 of space, and the redevelopment resulted in doubling the capacity of the existing grandstands, construction of a new owners' and trainers' building, as well as a new 1,000-seat ballroom for functions, which was converted to corporate suites on race days.

The new Theatre of the Horse parade ring allows for 4,500 people to view horses before and after races, with a tunnel providing horse and rider access to the course.

In addition, a new Paddock Grandstand with increased capacity was constructed and adjoined to the The Queen Elizabeth II Grandstand, which was completely refurbished.
